History of the Annual February Fast
The Annual February and Consecration started during the mid-1970's when the Lord spoke to me to start a fast throughout the month of February. His instructions were to "get 7 people" to go on this fast, each taking a 24-hour period of the day of their choice thus assuring that each day in the week was covered with fasting. Each person was to fast for this 24-hour period of his or her selected day each week in the month. This amounted to only 4 days fasting for each person participating in this consecration.

After I had partitioned for willing participants throughout the month of January without complete success I began to question God. January 31 was already here and I only had 3 people willing to participate. I asked God, "Lord, are you sure you want me to go on this fast? I only have 3 participants besides myself. Lord I need you to act quickly because it already January 31 and its late at night and I don't have the number of persons you required of me. "You've gotta send me some help."

After I realized that I was helpless to make it happen and after really making partition to God for help the telephone rang 3 times. Each ring brought another willing participant, each taking one of the needed days. My heart was overjoyed to say the least. We were on our way into the first of what has turned out to be the "Annual February Fast."

After that first year of participants, each being from the church community in Newburgh, New York, the February Fast has grown to willing participant from various communities and denominations all across the United States. The concept was even taken to Germany during the military career of one of the participants.

The youth population is also encouraged to participate. Each one of us should be a mentor and an ambassador to encourage our youths to participate in these kinds of consecration activities for the Lord.

Some of the rewards of our fasting has have been the removal from dependence on insulin, recovery of non-functioning kidneys, salvation of souls, breaking of the desire to smoke and drink alcohol, the mending of strong relationships between family members and much, much more.

Special thanks goes to my wife Missionary Jane Colbert, Elder James J. Andrews, Sr., Elder William Melvin, Missionary Mae F. Leggette, Missionary Ella Mae Anderson (now deceased), Missionary Flossie Andrews (now deceased) and Evangelist Thelma Melvin who each played an integral part by being the initial participants in helping to get the Annual February Fast started. Many thanks and blessings go out to many, many more individuals who have supported the February Fast year after year.

Today, God has blessed the Annual February Fast and Consecration to grow exponentially in number of participants. The February Fast is now a staple in the Christian diet of many churches across the nation.

Below you will find the parameters of the February Fast and Consecration. We encourage you to participate. There is no fee to be involved. The only thing we ask is that you let us know! Email us your list of participants so that we can add them to ours. We wont share individual names with anyone, but we do like to share with everyone how many God has blessed to participate. You can do this by completing the participation form at the bottom of this page. If your participation list is too large, you may email the information to participate@februaryfast.com.

In addition, send us your praise reports, testimonies and prayer requests. We want to agree with you during this time of fasting and so do the other February Fast participants. You can do this by going to the Prayer Requests & Praise Reports page.

Lastly, God has placed a burden on my heart to champion the cause of relationship building with Christ through prayer and fasting. I have written a book called Power In Fasting which provides scripturally based insight on fasting. It now available for purchase, so check it out here
